Dortmund still lead the league with considerable advantage and with 6-3-1 (19-5 goals) home stats. I think it does not reflect their real performance, they are better than the results shows! First round they suffered a defeat against Leverkusen despite that they deserved a draw, in October they played a draw with Hoffenheim but they were better despite that they must play Europa League game with Paris Saint Germain before the league match. Furthermore they had more winning games with lower goas difference than they deserved, for example Wolfsburg (2-0), the result could have been 4-0 or 5-0. After the winter break they were also unlucky on several occasions, Stuttgart and Schalke also get a point but Dortmund pressured a lot and the keeper of the opponent were excellent or Borussia haven’t lucky. Last week they lost two points again and the performance was not so great but many players could not be together due to international games, Subotić played in Israel, Piszczek, Kuba and Lewandowski in Portugal while Großkreutz, Hummels and Götze also played with the national team.
Newcomers Sankt Pauli have 4-1-5 (9-16 goals) away records and they reached decent results lately; draw with Freiburg and Hoffenheim, then won over Köln, Mönchengladbach and Hamburg. Great results but Köln are the worst travellers in the Bundesliga, last ranked Mönchengladbach take the lead and they received a red card in the 21th min and capitulated, Hamburg played much better just were unlucky.
So unlucky team vs lucky team. Let’s see the missings! Dortmund are missing Subotić (key def, suspended) but Felipe Santana were solid replacement two weeks ago. Kagawa injured in the Asian Cup, he could not play in 2011 but showed excellent form during the first half of the season. Weidenfeller (first gk and team captain) is doubtful but probably he will play. Sankt Pauli have serious problems, three regular defenders are out for this game, Morena and Rothenbach injured, Zambrano suspended, while Boll (reg. mid) and Asamoah (key att) are also injured. Other very important attacker Ebbers recovered after injury.
I think the difference is huge between these two teams and the guests played midweek also on away field so they aren’t in the best condition, I expect a clear home win.
